CREPS Rhône-Alpes in Lapland for the second meeting of the European Outdoor Sports Campus
Contemporary societies are increasingly expressing a need to reconnect with nature, whether for health, social ties or education. For the past three years, a networking initiative has been underway, bringing together a community of researchers and university lecturers, as well as training centres from various countries in the enlarged European Community. A European outdoor campus was launched for this purpose by CREPS and is now run by the ENOS network, with several collective working sessions.
On the initiative of the international unit of CREPS Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes VVL, and colleagues from the University of Rovaniemi (Lapin AMK), an exchange was organised from 29 September to 3 October in Kiilopää in northern Finland. Focusing on several themes aimed at connecting the different work, exchanges between researchers and trainers provided an opportunity to discuss reciprocal methodologies and learn from each other with a view to outlining future collaborative content or methods, drawing in particular on the work of universities but also on available data.
All stakeholders in this network agree that, despite their cultural differences, outdoor physical activities can be a very effective way of helping people reconnect with nature. Physical experiences in the outdoors, provided they are implemented as part of experiential learning, remain a wonderful way to stimulate the senses, share emotions and give free rein to shared expressions.
